I have been selling and managing sales predominantly in a virtual environment for almost 25 years. In that time, I have worked for companies such as Smith Barney, Bear Stearns, IBM, eFunds and Fidelity Information Services. Currently I run sales and business development for a global contract automation and document assembly company called Exari (www.exari.com). We have offices, customers and sales people in the U.S. (based in Boston), the EU (in Munich and London) and in Asia (based in Melbourne, Australia) so most of our sales and sales management happen virtually. I have spent a lot of time developing and implementing new sales productivity tools such as email, CRM (Siebel, SalesLogix and Salesforce), handheld devices (such as Palms, Blackberries and iPhones), instant messaging, meeting management software, teamrooms, webinars, blogs and wikis. Now I am looking to take this all to the next level and to share and benchmark around how to use these existing tools and emerging tools such as Twitter and LinkedIn to maximize lead generation and sales.
